This is a historical lesson about Horatio and Ann Spafford who started the American Colony in Jerusalem. They started hospitals, orphanages and soup kitchens and provided relief in Jerusalem around the time of WWI. Colonel Charles Gordan who saw the skull at skull hill and connected it to the spot of Jesus’ death and ressurrection was staying at the American Colony which is just across from skull hill. The American Colony prides itself on neutrality, and confidentiality – on keeping sensitive information behind closed doors. Perhaps that's why the hotel has been the uncredited force behind peace negotiations, secret meeting between spies, and journalists deciding what tomorrow's headlines will be.
